How to Stay Productive

New year, new goals, right?

The problem is, most of the time, I'd rather be doing something other than the task that is at hand.  We've come up with a few ways to keep your mind on the task at hand, leaving time for the fun things.

Play some music

If you are doing a mundane task (dishes, anyone?) play some music to lift your mood!  It'll make the clock tick faster, leaving you plenty of time to do that DIY project you pinned.

Switch off

Easier said than done, I know, but studies show that switching off your smartphone will increase productivity.  Chances are, all the time spent texting and checking email or social media will actually prolong your activity, making it seem never ending.

Declutter

This is perhaps my favorite strategy.  To me, a clean space is a clear mind, and a clear mind is a focused mind.  Also, decluttering is the perfect segue into my favorite activity - decorating!

Reward Yourself

Setting goals and tasks provides an easy metric for measuring progress and completion, but don't forget to reward yourself for a job well done. Mani/pedis, fresh flowers, or a small piece of decor to dress up the home are wonderful rewards.
