I don’t know about you, but when replacing my old curtains and draperies, it always feels like a shame to toss out the old ones. After all, they’re made of yards of perfectly good fabric! Well, we’ve got you covered, with 5 different ways to help you salvage your old draperies.

(Follow along on our Pinterest board too!)

  1. Use it elsewhere

If you’re not up for a big DIY task and still adore the fabric you used, just put your old draperies somewhere else! You can make them into a room divider or even a shower curtain with the help of a plastic liner. (via jenna burger)

  1. Spruce up your couch

Short on time, but not short on fabric? The Happy Housie has you covered with her Super Crazy Easy Fast Ten-Minute Envelope Pillow Covers. Don’t have a sewing machine? Check out AkaDesign’s No-Sew Floor Pillow tutorial.

  1. Reupholster your chairs

Re-covering your chairs couldn’t get any easier. With no sewing required, all you need is a screwdriver, scissors, and a staple gun. This tutorial from HGTV explains everything perfectly. (via HGTV)

  1. Put it on the floor

If you have a drapery panel that’s already lined, arm yourself with a stitch remover (to remove the pleats and hooks) and you’ve got yourself a floor cloth! If the panel is unlined or needs a bit of alteration to get it to the desired size, check out Vintage Revival’s DIY Floor Cloth tutorial or the Remodelaholic’s Fabric Rug DIY.

Depending on the weight of your fabric, you have so many options. For the lighter fabrics like cotton or linen, try making this gorgeous Woven Rag Rug from Craft Passion or this Rag Rug from the girls at Everyday Art.

Those with heavier fabrics shouldn’t fret – this Braided Rug how-to from In Habitat should be right up your alley.

  1. Dress up your dinner table

Depending on what material your old draperies are made of, you can make a tablecloth or cloth napkins. But proceed with caution and make sure you’re working with a fabric that can be laundered and dried, as these will undoubtedly get soiled by food! (via nicoles classes)
