5 Simple Ways to Bring the Outdoors Inside

I love the outdoors, regardless of the time of year.  Something about the elements of wind, earth, fire, and water makes me feel rejuvenated and refreshed.  Whenever possible, I try to incorporate outdoor elements into my home decor.  Using indoor plants or fresh cut flowers is an obvious way to bring the outdoors indoors, but here are 5 other fresh ideas for bringing natural beauty into your home.

1. Use natural textiles, fibers, and patterns.

Flax, linen, hemp, and wicker are all natural elements that can be incorporated in home decor.  Consider these natural materials when selecting window treatments, side tables, baskets, and even rugs.

2. Let in natural light

Open up those window shades, pull back the curtains and let some light in! If you're looking for privacy and light, try a sheer curtain or another similar window treatment.

4. Use colors inspired by the outdoors

Don't limit yourself to earth tones!  Embrace the colors of nature.  Blues will echo the sky and bodies of water, yellow will incorporate sunshine and energy, while green brings to mind the classic natural ideas of growth and regeneration.
