2019 is in full swing, and it’s time to decide what trends are here to stay and which ones should be left in 2018. Check out our list of trends that are “in” or “out” so you don’t get caught repping a trend that is “so-last-year”.
In - Sustainability
Many people are beginning to realize the negative impact their choices may have on our environment. If you’re having this realization, a good place to start is with your home. So many of us purchase assorted furniture and knick-knacks that we never use and eventually end up in the landfill. The best way to combat unnecessary waste is to purchase less and to make sure you know where materials are coming from. Out - Clutter
Sometimes people tend to think that more decoration will result in a better-looking home. On the contrary, however, more items often make your walls look busier and distract guests from the statement pieces. Everything you place in your home should have a purpose. Does that elephant figurine you purchased from Target really add value to your home? If not, donate it to a thrift store so it can be used again, rather than heading to the landfill. Similar to sustainability, people are beginning to appreciate the simple vibrancy that nature’s decor can bring to a home. Whether it’s colorful flowers, a bright evergreen, or mellow bamboo, purchasing some plants is an inexpensive and easy way to add both color and life into your home. Plus, adding shrubbery into your living space is a known way to improve your mood and boost positivity. Colors that add to that natural style include stone, copper, granite, flax, oatmeal, and chocolate.
Out: Rose Gold
Rose Gold blew up after people saw its beautiful complexion. However, it has quickly become way overused. Ditch the rose gold in your home this year to avoid the embarrassing affliction of repping an old trend. Instead, go brighter and try out this year’s color of the year, Living Coral. Coral emits more vibrancy and energy and will help bring your home into a new era of bright happy colors.
In: Wood and White
This classic combination is reigning once again in 2019, this time with a modern twist. Going along with the style of natural elements, matching beautiful walnut woods with a neutral white will balance out the room and give it a simple yet inviting mood.
Out: Farmhouse Decor
While the arrows, metal pails, and cursive quotes are cute, they're pretty overdone and we're ready for a new trend. Farmhouse is a theme that was used for too many parties, weddings, and homes and it’s time to leave it in 2018. (Yes, this is your excuse to finally remove that “RELAX” sign written on a wood slab from your living room.)
