The color gray has been replacing the old standby beige, in interiors as the new neutral for the last several years. A quick Pinterest search and you’ll find more examples of gray interiors than you might imagine. With paint swatch books filled with every shade of gray imaginable to furniture that is frequently available in some version of gray, the color is readily available no matter how what tone you’re looking for. You also don’t have to search far for gray accessories or lighting, arguably there’s never been a time when it’s easier to find ways to bring this soft neutral into your home than now. With our new Stone Gray linen added to our family of fabric colors you can now easily incorporate gray into your curtains and window shades.
Even if you’re fond of other colors, gray plays well with a wide assortment of other hues. For example, a gray with warmer undertones pairs well with browns, chestnut and even pink colors where a cool gray can pair well with shades of white, black and chrome accents. If you have colored walls consider gray furniture pieces like a sofa or even a large gray tablecloth for your dining table. If you prefer to use gray on your walls, pair it with wooden frames, chairs and accents in brass.
Flooring also plays a big part so you can even use gray to tone down orange or very dark hued wooden floors. The spectrum of gray can range from near-white to near-black so you can easily personalize your look depending on the shade you choose. If you prefer a more boho look gray also creates a subtle backdrop to showcase your collection of prints and patterns.
We love gray here at Barn & Willow but if you’re still not convinced that you need gray just yet, check out this gallery of examples that feature gray in different forms throughout the home. Find gray tiles in the kitchen or bathroom, gray bedding and cushions among the bedrooms and living rooms and of course beautiful shades of warm or cool grays in paint colors. To create a space of tranquility and harmony, use similar tones of gray throughout a room or your entire house!
