Meet Jojotastic, otherwise known as Ms. Joanna Hawley, whom we recently worked with to give her 1908 bungalow bedroom a makeover.
The result was bright, open, and inviting, with an eclectic mix old-world cool mixed with must-have modern accents.
A divine mix and match of patterns + textures and metals + organic materials.
New features included a sophisticated brass bed frame from CB2, rustic (but not too rustic) barn doors instead of swinging doors and our very own Belgian Flax Curtains as closet doors...
But first, our Roman Shades. Joanna loved the clean and sophisticated look shades generally bring to a room. She wanted something that was affordable yet also high-quality (cue linen!). To achieve this, she ordered: flat shades with interlining (for max. sunlight and sound blocking), inside mount, in our Belgian flax linen in Optic White.
And now our most fav creative hack from Jojo -- the closet!
Of the many places in which curtains can provide unconventional yet practical solutions, installing them in lieu of closet doors is our favorite hack for small spaces. Swapping closet doors for curtains will expand the size and space of the room, and adds a modern, artistic feel.
Similarly, if a room does not come equipped with a “proper” closet door (as was the case for Joanna), you can transform one of the walls in the room by installing shelves and a dressers against the wall and hang curtains in front to hide the clutter.
Even if creating space isn’t an issue in your bedroom, using some of these creative bends can bring a unique vibe to your space.
