How We Found It
We were on the hunt for a vertically integrated cotton mill for some of our new cotton based products. We were looking to work with a factory who is known for producing the most premium quality of all natural cotton fabric. We had visited several different cotton factories, tried out different grades of cotton fabrics, but were not satisfied with what we had seen and tested so far. Finally, we met the owners of this cotton mill at one of the largest manufacturer conferences. We soon started meeting with their team, examined their facilities, examined all of their cotton samples and finished fabrics. Finally, after three months of extensive hunting, multiple rounds of fabric sampling and meeting with the weavers assured us that they were the best team to partner with.
About the Factory
Our cotton manufacturer is based in the southern part of India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The mill was founded in 1946 and started off primarily as a spinning mill that made the finest cotton yarns for India. Soon, they became a vertically integrated textile mill owning and operating the entire process of manufacturing, starting from the selection of fiber, spinning, weaving, processing, finishing and final assembling. They are known for extremely strict quality standards and procedure that are applied at every stage, including the selection of raw materials. They are one of the few manufacturers of India who is highly committed to proper employee wages and to safe working conditions for all employees. Their environment management system ensures sustainability of environmental standards. In fact, they use the most contemporary and sophisticated effluent treatment and water recycling plants to ensure that 100% of the effluent is recycled.
The Process
These cotton throws and pillow covers went from raw cotton to yarn, spinning, weaving and then finishing. It was a three-month long process. We started off by working on our designs and patterns with our design team here in California. We would then work with the mill contact to review the designs, our required specifications, and other attributes. The final spec would then go into sampling and once approved the final production started. All these throws and pillow covers are nicely packaged and shipped to you from our sunny office in Menlo Park, California.
