Home Decor tips from Joanna Gaines

It's no secret that we're huge fans of Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper and Magnolia Home. With her thrifty, rustic, and oh so chic aesthetic, we went to her Instagram to grab some style tips for our homes.

Mix Textures

A mix of metal, raw wood, and white painted wood gives this boy's room plenty of visual interest. Combine that with the pattern mixing of the bedding and the window treatments, and you've got a room that any little boy would love to have.

Just the right amount of shiplap

There's no doubt that Joanna was responsible for 2016's shiplap craze on Pinterest and Instagram. Like in this living room, a bit of shiplap above the fireplace breaks up the monotony of a white wall.

Or a lot of concrete

Concrete, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways. Concrete has an amazing industrial vibe, perfect for countertops (don't forget to go over with a sealant!) - it's incredibly sturdy, looks great with age, and cost efficient.

Pops of Color

One of the easiest ways to make a room feel new is a new splash of paint. Add color to a room by painting the furnishings - like this beautiful kitchen island.

Something Old and Something New

Antique furnishings, like this vintage door, give a new home plenty of character. Not to mention, if you look in the right places, you can get a well-loved vintage piece for a great price.

Combine shades and like colors

White walls are so fresh and clean, but can sometimes feel a bit bland. Try pairing neutrals, like whites, off whites, beiges, and browns for a simple, understated and classic look. The warm-leaning Belgian Flax Linen roman shades in Off White match well with the shiplap walls.
